Uit de Dordrechtsche Courant, 1837-08-10; p. 2. In 1839 werd het ook te koop aangeboden, zie daarvoor de Dordrechtsche Courant, 1839-11-07. Vanaf 7 dec. 1839 tot eind feb. 1840 begint men alles wat los en vast zit te verkopen. In een krant van 28-7-1840 spreekt men van de gewezen Buitenplaats Buitenrust onder Dubbeldam aan de Achterweg (nr. 185?), wanneer de 'uitmuntende te veld staande haver' verkocht kan worden. Op 10 augustus 1839 overleed op de Buitenplaats Buitenrust op 64 jarige leeftijd de hoog edel gestrenge heer Joseph Lodewijk Annas Brummel luitenant kolonel, kommanderende het korps Koninklijke Marechaussee, Ridder van de Militaire Willemsorde, de Orde Van St. Anne van Rusland, ridder van de Pruisische orde van verdienste, enz.
